Mites are small arachnids up to 0.5 mm long. Mites are keratin-phages: they feed on dead human and animal skin,
pieces of nails and hair.
In optimal conditions mites can live up to 3 months,
every 3 weeks producing 25-30 new individuals each. With such reproduction, after washing or cleaning their number returns to previous count after 1-2 weeks.
1 gram of household dust contains up to 1,000 mites!
